Wilkes-Barre, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will host a public hearing on the permit associated with a proposed warehouse project in Lowhill Township, Lehigh County. The hearing will take place on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the Germansville Volunteer Fire Company located at 6011 Memorial Rd, Germansville, PA 18053.
DEP will accept testimony from the public regarding a National Pollutant Discharge and Elimination System Permit (NPDES) application from Core5 Industrial Partners for the 2766 PA Route 100 Industrial Project in Lowhill Township, Lehigh County. Representatives from the DEP’s Waterways & Wetlands Program, the Lehigh County Conservation District, and Core5 Industrial Partners will be in attendance.
Core5 plans to construct the warehouse for storage purposes along Route 100 in Lowhill Township. The NPDES permit will allow for the discharge of stormwater from construction activities to the following receiving watercourses: an unknown tributary to Little Lehigh Creek, which is considered high-quality-cold water fishery, and to exceptional value wetlands, both of which have special protections under the Clean Water Act.
The DEP received the NPDES permit application on May 18, 2023, and the application was deemed administratively complete on December 5, 2023. Written public comments were received during the public comment period.
