The lookup tool on the Revenue website helps people pinpoint a location nearby where they can receive help with their applications for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate program
Thanks to an aggressive marketing effort, DOR has received nearly 45,000 applications for rebates so far – more than double the amount received in the first month of the application period last year – and has completed and approved 82% of those applications
Harrisburg, PA — As part of Governor Josh Shapiro's efforts to deliver results and make government more accessible, the Department of Revenue today launched a new lookup tool on its website to help applicants of the Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTRR) program find in-person assistance in their communities.
This interactive tool was developed by the Commonwealth Office of Digital Experience (CODE PA). It provides an easy way for older Pennsylvanians and people with disabilities who benefit from the PTRR program to enter their zip code and find a location nearby where someone can help them file their rebate application. These locations include Department of Revenue district offices, Area Agencies on Aging, and state legislators' offices.
"As Governor Shapiro has said, there is a tremendous network of people who work together every year to make sure that PTRR applications are filed accurately with our agency. There is no wrong door — we want people to find help where it is most convenient for them. The new lookup tool on our website will help everyone find that assistance," said Secretary of Revenue Pat Browne. "With the Property Tax/Rent Rebate program expanding to nearly 175,000 additional Pennsylvanians thanks to Governor Shapiro's efforts, we are working to make sure that we provide as much support as we can to the people who are counting on their rebates."
"The Property Tax/Rent Rebate program provides a lifeline to hundreds of thousands of older Pennsylvanians and people with disabilities. Our goal with developing the new lookup tool was to make sure these people have an easy way to find the face-to-face customer support that they may need," said Bry Pardoe, Executive Director of CODE PA. "This successful project is another example that Governor Shapiro is committed to making it easier for Pennsylvanians to connect with the vital resources provided by the Commonwealth."

About the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program
The rebate program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians age 65 and older; widows and widowers age 50 and older; and people with disabilities age 18 and older.
Rebates must be applied for every year as they are based on annual income and property taxes or rent paid during the prior year. The deadline to apply for a rebate is June 30, 2024.
As it stands today, DOR has received nearly 45,000 PTRR applications, and has already completed and approved 82 percent of those applications for payment.
Rebates will be distributed beginning July 1, 2024, as required by law. New or first-time filers should anticipate that it will take additional time to review their applications and process their rebates.

About the PTRR Expansion
Governor Josh Shapiro signed into law a historic expansion of the Property Tax/Rent Rebate (PTRR) program, which means more Pennsylvanians now qualify — and at the same time — the vast majority who qualified in prior years will see their rebates increase. This is the first time the program has been expanded since 2006. The expansion:
- Increases the maximum standard rebate to $1,000.
- Increases the income cap for homeowners and renters to $45,000.
- Increases the income cap to grow with inflation each year moving forward.
Since its inception in 1971, the PTRR program has delivered more than $8 billion in property tax and rent relief to some of Pennsylvania's most vulnerable residents. The PTRR program is supported by the Pennsylvania Lottery and receives funding from gaming.
