Office of Inspector General Special Agent Moriah Harding’s Vigilance and Quick Action Undoubtedly Saved Lives

Harrisburg, PA - On behalf of the Shapiro Administration, State Inspector General Lucas M. Miller congratulates Office of State Inspector General (OSIG) Special Agent Moriah Harding for earning a Governor’s Award for Excellence.

Special Agent Harding is being recognized for her exceptional vigilance and quick action that prevented a potentially devastating violent crime. While on duty at a County Assistance Office, Special Agent Harding noticed a suspicious individual asking for directions to a Lackawanna County high school. Hearing unusual 'clicking' noises from under the person's clothes, she alerted the police as the individual headed towards the school.

After Special Agent Harding alerted local law enforcement, police intervention led to the arrest of the suspect, who was found in possession of a long gun and numerous rounds of ammunition. This critical apprehension would not have been possible without her keen observations and proactive response. Her courageous and community-minded actions represent the highest standards of law enforcement and public service.

"Special Agent Harding’s actions exemplify OSIG’s dedication to public safety," said General Miller. "She demonstrated exceptional readiness and courage, acting immediately and prioritizing the safety of others, especially the high school students, above all else. I am deeply thankful for Special Agent Harding and her work with the Office of State Inspector General. I commend her for earning this well-deserved award."
