Bellefonte, PA – Today, Pennsylvania Department of Corrections (DOC) Secretary Dr. Laurel R. Harry announced that Bradley M. Booher has been appointed superintendent of the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Benner Township. He replaces Morris L. Houser, who recently was appointed as the Deputy Secretary for the Central Region.
“Superintendent Booher's experience with operations and security will complement his already established leadership abilities as he assumes the reigns as superintendent of Benner Township," said Secretary Harry. “He brings to the table all of the characteristics that are necessary to be an effective superintendent, and I am confident that his correctional knowledge and experience will benefit both staff and inmates.
Booher was born and raised in Huntington County and is a graduate of Mount Union High School. In 1992, he earned his associate degree in business administration; and in 1995 he earned an associate degree in criminology, both from Mount Aloysius College. In 2007, he completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral and Social Sciences.
Booher began his career in 1998 as a corrections officer at SCI Chester. He transferred to SCI Smithfield in 2001 and while at SCI Smithfield, he was promoted to sergeant and then to lieutenant. In 2014, he transferred to SCI Benner Township where he was appointed captain. While at SCI Benner Township, Booher served as the major of the guard until he was appointed deputy superintendent of centralized services in 2017.
