Harrisburg, PA - Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities (DoBS) Acting Secretary Wendy Spicher applauds students from Messiah University in Grantham, Cumberland County, who placed third in the nationwide 2023 Conference of State Banking Supervisors (CSBS) Community Bank Case Study Competition.
The competition partners student teams with local community banks to conduct original case studies. Messiah University students partnered with LINKBANK to learn about how management and the board of directors are recruiting, training and retaining talent; approaching succession planning and demographic changes in their area; and using technology to advance their operations.
“I’m thrilled to congratulate the student team from Messiah University for their third-place win in this challenging national competition,” said Spicher. “Through detailed research and careful analysis, the Messiah team received a first-hand understanding of how community banks are positioning themselves for success and sustainability in a fast-changing banking environment. Their dedication is impressive, and I hope they continue to be passionate about community banking as they continue with their academic and professional careers.”
This is the ninth year of the competition and included 34 teams from across the country. Each student on the Messiah University team will receive a $500 CSBS scholarship and have their case studies published by CSBS. Learn more about the 2023 Community Bank Case Study Competition.
